(September 24, 2023 – Collingwood, ON.) – Collingwood based concert promo6ons company Countrycore Concerts are proud to announce the launch of their newly planned annual Remembrance Day event Sound Of Remembrance happening on November 11, in Meaford Ontario at Meaford Hall. Headlined by Canadian Country Music Hall Of Fame inductee Jason McCoy performing a special acous6c set of songs, and featuring fast rising Country ar6st “The Singing Soldier” Graham Trude, the event is dedicated to “those who have served and sacrificed” and will addi6onally feature spoken memories and insights from several of Canada’s war veterans.
This very special fundraising concert aims to gather veterans, their families, and supporters for an evening dedicated to music, memory, and camaraderie. Sound Of Remembrance will create an atmosphere of unity and reverence while paying tribute to the brave men and women who have served within our Canadian Forces.
As a 35 year veteran of the entertainment industry, two 6me CCMA Male Vocalist of the Year, and 2023 CCMA Hall of Fame inductee, Jason McCoy appears to be the king of reinven6on. Growing up in the small town of Minesing Ontario, Jason admired the well-rounded ar6stry of classic entertainers Roger Miller and Johnny Cash, to Merle Haggard and Glen Campbell.
Addi6onally, Jason is a founding member of the Canadian All-Star Country band The Road Hammers, who have become the top-selling country band in Canada. The band won a Juno for Country Album of the Year for The Road Hammers, which went pla6num. The band has also won the CCMA Group or Duo Award three 6mes. The Road Hammers have had five top-10 radio hits in Canada. They have nearly eight million YouTube views, including 2.3 million for the single, I’m a Road Hammer.
“Music has taken me all around the world, and it's just reinforced how lucky we are to be Canadian.” says McCoy. “It also reminds me everyday how big of debt we owe to all those who have and conBnue to serve.”
Graham Trude is a Canadian Country musician, performer and songwriter dubbed “The Singing Soldier” by Canadian country music legend Bruce Good (of The Good Brothers), and is a unique songwriter and performer who brings an unforgeXable presence to the stage. With a strong military and law enforcement background, Graham is able to write from a place of empathy and understanding when it comes to stories about love, loss and the connec6on of emo6on.
Graham served as a front line armoured corps tank driver in the Afghanistan rota6on 3- 09 with the Lord Strathcona’s Horse (RC) B Platoon. Upon his return home to Canada, he was determined to con6nue his work on the front lines - this 6me as a police officer in the remote fly in indigenous communi6es of the Nishnawbe Aski Na6on, Poplar Hill, Ontario. As a result of a military injury and a law enforcement incident, Graham was diagnosed with complex Post Trauma6c Stress Disorder in 2019. At the lowest point in his life, he turned to wri6ng music to find solace and eventually found the strength to take his future into his own hands and turn his life around. Graham departed from law enforcement in 2020 to pursue his love and career in song wri6ng and performing.
“I am honoured to take the stage with one of my childhood music heroes surrounded by an event that is so important to me and my comrades.” says Graham. “For me and most of my friends, Remembrance Day does not end on November 11.”
